SHRM Assurance of Learning and Assessment
Passing this exam shows employers you have the general knowledge to be a successful human resource professional
Who can take it?
Any student (HR or not). You can take the exam a year before graduation up to a year after graduation
What’s on the exam?
160 multiple choice questions (3 hours and 30 minutes) which include
topics like employee and labor relations, employment law, strategy, compensation and benefits, training and development, and workforce planning
How much does it cost?
$158 if a SHRM member (national), $237 for non-members

SHRM Certified Professional Certification
This certification is great for professionals that have already graduated and have experience in human resources. This certification is highly recommended for human resource professionals to show you are recognized expert or leader in human resources.
Who can take it?
You can take this exam if you have a HR-related degree and 1 year in a HR role OR if you have a non-HR degree and 2 years in HR role
What’s on the exam?
160 questions (4 hours) on behavioral competencies, people, organization, workplace, strategy
How much does it cost?
$300 if SHRM member (national) or $400 for non SHRM members
